Turn Wash Day into Wash Hour

Raise your hand if you’ve gone more than two weeks without washing your hair…

Keep it up if you’ve gone a month…

What about longer?

When I was nine years old my mother told me I had to start taking care of my own hair. So like any other kid, I never washed it.

… To keep a long and graphic story short, after about two months of not washing my hair my scalp became inflamed and I got bald spots.

Dramatic, I know

I get it, life gets busy and stressful.

And with the last bit of energy we have left, the last thing we want to do is wash and style our hair.

But when are we going to stop neglecting ourselves and our hair?
Even 2 Chainz knows our hair is a priority!

Here’s a little secret: wash day doesn’t have to be an entire production!

Here’s a few tips on how I save my time and energy during wash day (so I can show up consistently every single week):

Stop pre-poo’ing and detangling

Let’s get this show on the road and hop in the shower! Detangling your hair before you fully saturate it in water and product will only cause friction and breakage. Dry hair doesn’t have as much elasticity as wet hair so it’s more prone to breakage when you pull at it.

As soon as I get in the shower I run water down my hair until it is fully wet. Then I grab the Moisture Shampoo and apply it at my roots and down the length of my hair. I use my fingers to gently scrub my scalp and finger detangle my hair. The water and shampoo produces enough slip to work through any tangles, while also helping me distribute the shampoo for a more thorough clean.

Use the steam from you shower as a treatment

Steaming helps moisture to penetrate the hair cuticles to strengthen and soften hair strands. The steam from your shower creates a humid environment and opens up the hair cuticles. This is the perfect time to apply a hair mask, like the Deep Repair Treatment to infuse curls with nutrients and hydration to better repair weak and dry hair.

Seal in the moisture until next wash day

After you’ve gone through all the work of washing your hair, you want to make sure your efforts lasts until the next time you clean your hair. Use a leave in conditioner and a light weight oil to lock in moisture. The Emergency Miracle Treatment is cream based for lasting hydration, while the Amethyst Oil seals in the moisture without clogging pores and causing build up.

If you follow these tips you can turn wash day into wash hour and save your arm strength for other things… like lifting groceries.
